Welcome to this week’s Newsline. Here’s what’s included:

God is at Work!

Forward 2

It was so good to be back in the building together last Sunday, but it was what happened in the car park that had us really excited!

After visiting Church for the first time, somebody who had been seeking Jesus through Alpha last year, was so moved that he decided to make a commitment to Christ right there between the parked cars!!

Our God is not restricted Church!

This Sunday

This week, we get to do something we love – join with our Taking Ground family to worship together.

As well as worship and regional updates from our North East family, Martin Dunkley, leader of Taking Ground, will be speaking to us. He says: “In the midst of situations that present and feel a certain way, God can be working something very different.”

We are excited to join together to review the unexpected things God has being doing behind the scenes over the last 12 months.

There are still a few congregation tickets up for grabs so make sure you book in!

If you are watching from home, you will need to head to the Taking Ground Facebook page or the Taking Ground YouTube channel instead of our own this week.

Illuminate Groups are back!

Illuminate kids we have missed you!

We are so excited to be able to welcome our children back to worship together at the Oakwood Centre from Sunday 18th April.

At the moment we have capacity for one Fireflies Group (aged 2-end of reception class) and one Spark group (year 1-6), so get booked in for fun, games and seeking Jesus together.

Whether your children have been to our kids groups loads of times, or if it is their first – they will be made to feel very welcome by the other children and by the adults who take care of them.

*When booking your children in to a group – please take care to book them the correct children’s ticket rather than an auditorium ticket so that we can ensure we are following all the guidelines by keeping our groups to the correct number.

Book your spaces for each family member from our Sundays page or through your MyChurchSuite app.

Alpha Update

This week, we welcomed 5 guests to our latest online Alpha course.

Before each session, everybody is invited to watch the session video online and then the group comes together to discuss it. It can sometimes be a skill to help people to open up and ask the questions that they really want to ask.

When I caught up with Matt Williamson this week, he was blown away by the response of one guest, who had made a whole page of A4 notes and questions, which then helped the whole group to jump straight in and get down to real discovery, right from the word go!

Excitement only grew when one person made a commitment in this, the very first week!

Keep praying for those who are on this Alpha course – pray that they are able to attend each week and that they continue to be bold in their searching and of course pray for the other 4 to be saved too!

Let’s Pray for our Kids

There is no doubt that time spent in prayer over your kids, is time well spent.

In the autumn, and again in the Winter, we have got together, over Zoom, as men and as women, to pray over the children who are precious to us.

Ladies – we have set another date to gather together as Mum’s, Grandmas, aunts and sisters, to pray over the children who are in our lives and bring them before the Lord – so put Sunday 25th April in your diary!

Men – we are planning a date for you guys to meet so watch this space!

The Bible Course

Whether you’re new to the Bible or have been a Christian for a long time, the Bible Course is for you.

It shows how the key books, famous characters and epic events form one BIG story, from Genesis to Revelation.  The course also provides tools and skills that help apply the Bible to everyday life.

How does the Old Testament fit into the Christian story?  Why are there FOUR Gospels and what are the differences between them?

Most important of all – what message is God trying to communicate?

The Bible Course will answer these questions and many more.  It’s a fun way to start going deeper into the message that God is trying to communicate through his Word.

There are a limited number of places on the first course via first zoom, starting on Tuesday 4th May. If you would like to express your interest in joining in, please contact Ray and Sylvia Mills.
